U Hla Myint, a Myanmar citizen, of age 71 years, possesses Bachelor of Agriculture (B. Ag) degree from Institute of Agriculture, Myanmar, Diploma of Statistics (D.S) from Institute of Economics, Myanmar and Master of Science (M.S in Plant Pathology) degree from Texas A&M University, USA.
He joined Myanmar government service as Estate Manager of rubber plantation in 1965 and was with the plantation crops industry through-out his service life of thirty years until 1995, when he retired from the post of Director, Applied Research Centre for Perennial Crops (ARCPC) of Myanmar Perennial Crop Enterprise (MPCE).
As FAO National Project Director of ARCPC Project implemented from 1991 to 1994, he had successfully established the ARCPC Research Centre, which became a landmark in the history of Myanmar’s rubber and plantation crops industry.
He has spent about 49 years in the Natural Rubber Planting Industry, including 30 years in the government sector. On many occasions, he had worked as UNDP/FAO Consultant on rubber and plantation crops.
He is Advisor at Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers Association (MRPPA) since 2005 and a Board Member of International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB). He is also CEO-cum-Plantation Crops Consultant at Myanmar Plantation Management & Advisory Co., Ltd. (MPMAC).
He has written many research papers and educational booklets on rubber and plantation crops.
