Datuk Dr Salmiah Ahmad was appointed Director General of the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) in 2010. Prior to her appointment, Datuk Dr. Salmiah held the post of Deputy Director General (Services) at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. In addition to her expertise in organic chemistry, Datuk Dr Salmiah also has vast experience in the operational and policy sector, which benefits MRB. Datuk Dr Salmiah holds a Bachelor and Master of Science (Organic Chemistry) from Northern Illinois University, USA. She received her PhD from Imperial College London, United Kingdom in Physical Chemistry. She also holds an Executive MBA from the Asean Institute of Management, Manila, Philippines. She was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia in March 2012. Apart from her duties as the Director General of MRB, she is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Rubber Exchange (MRE) and had assumed the chairmanship of the International Rubber Association (IRA) and the International Rubber Research Development Board (IRRDB).
